Paysafe Bulgaria brings new tech skills to Bulgarian schools

May 16, 2018

More than 65 students participated in Paysafe’s Raspberry Pi trainings

SOFIA, Bulgaria, May 16, 2017 – Paysafe Bulgaria provided students from two schools in Sofia with the opportunity to learn and work on Raspberry Pi devices - credit card-sized computers originally designed for education. During the first half of 2018, Paysafe delivered six beginner training sessions which were attended by over 65 students.

“Paysafe is a leading global payments provider with more than 2,600 employees across 12+ locations around the world. Due to the nature of our business, technology is central to our operations and we value the importance of quality tech education as a key prerequisite for professional achievement. We’re thrilled to be making a difference in the lives of those motivated pupils and to support their career development," said Miroslav Bojilov, General Manager, Paysafe Bulgaria.

Five experts from Paysafe Bulgaria’s software teams demonstrated how the Raspberry Pi devices work and trained the pupils to use the small single-board computers for educational games. More than 65 students of ‘Paisiy Hilendarski’ Sofia High School of Mathematics and “Frederic Joliot Curie” 23rd High School have participated in the trainings. All of them received Raspberry Pi devices as gifts from Paysafe.

“We are really impressed by the dedication of Paysafe Bulgarias team. We believe that their positive attention to the young people and the Raspberry Pi devices donation will encourage our students' passion for learning,” said Nina Chaneva, School Director at 23rd School “Frederic Joliot Curie” in Sofia.

“At our school, we are really devoted to helping our students' education and prosperity. Thanks to Paysafe, the youths who participated in the trainings had the opportunity to acquire tech skills and meet new friends,” said Ivaylo Ushagelov, School Director at Sofia High School of Mathematics.

This donation is not the first time the company has invested in young talent. Paysafe gave over 200 laptops to 11 schools in 2017 providing students from the districts of Vratsa, Kardzhali, Haskovo, Stara Zagora and Montana with the opportunity to learn and work on education-oriented Acer laptops. Moreover, the organisation donated "Get ready to succeed" scholarships to seven Bulgarian students last year. The Raspberry Pi trainings are also part of the company’s digital inclusion programme and demonstrates Paysafe’s ongoing commitment to talent development in Bulgaria.
