Paysafe careers: A day in the life of Polina Niebsch
This month we catch up with Polina Niebsch, Senior Director, Digital Wallets, at Paysafe. Polina tells us about her career so far, the brilliant work she does with her team, and how she returned to Paysafe with the Paysafe Alumni Network Programme.
Can you tell us about yourself, and a typical day in your job at Paysafe?
My name is Poli and I’m Senior Director, Digital Wallets, at Paysafe. I currently live in Sofia with my husband and five-year-old twin boys.
I don’t have typical days at work anymore! My team is working on providing relevant payment options to our digital wallets consumers and this brings new opportunities and challenges almost every day.
That said, my day usually involves communication with various internal stakeholders, engineering, and third-party payment providers.
What do you love most about your role?
The impact our team has on digital wallet customers – understanding their payments pain points and being able to address them.
How does your team contribute to Paysafe’s goals and vision in Powering Play, Safely?
My team ensures that all our existing payment integrations (card acquirers and APMs, for deposits and for withdrawals) perform as expected. We also work on integrating new payment methods that are relevant to our users. This contributes to Paysafe not only retaining and engaging existing customers, but also attracting new ones.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I had the opportunity to be part of five different departments and to live in three different countries with Paysafe. The first time I joined our company was in June 2004, here in Sofia. In 2014 I joined the team in Montreal and a couple of years later I continued my journey from our Canary Wharf office.
I met my husband at Paysafe, as well as some of my best friends.
Paysafe will always be a huge part of who I am.
What do you think about the Paysafe Alumni program?
I absolutely love it! It offers a great opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues and to exchange experiences.
What made you decide to return to Paysafe?
It was an easy decision. I built great relationships with colleagues, I knew I would always be passionate about payments, and I was missing being part of the Paysafe culture.
Polina Niebsch is a Senior Director in the Digital Wallets team at Paysafe. She is involved in the integration of new alternative payment methods (APMs) and card acquirers for digital wallets customers. Polina holds a Master's degree in Business Administration.
In her free time, she plays with LEGO with her kids.
