Paysafe careers: A day in the life of Peter Benedikt
As part of our Day in the Life series, we caught up with Peter Benedikt, Lead of SRE Consumer Solutions & SRO, DevOps, about his role at Paysafe.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, and a typical day in your job at Paysafe?
My name is Peter, I am based in Vienna and I have been at Paysafe since 2017. I started as a DevOps Engineer in the PaysafeCard/eCash DevOps team, and at the beginning of this year I moved to a site reliability engineering (SRE) role and accepted an opportunity to lead our SRE/SRO team.
I have a loving wife and two beautiful kids, with whom I love to spend all my precious free time. We like to be outside in nature, enjoying the nearby mountains and other surroundings that Vienna offers. And we for sure love summer holidays!
During a typical day at Paysafe I am communicating with my team about business-as-usual topics and many improvement ideas.
What do you love most about your role?
The most special aspect of my role is being able to explore the great potential of the people in my team. I am always amazed by their interests and capabilities, which always assures me that when they are given a vision and path, there are no barriers for their growth.
Can you tell us more about the work your team does?
We are the first level of contact when it comes to notifications and alerting the escalation of business or technical incidents. We are also engaged in cases of incidents, requests or other information that is required by a partner or internal users. We also track the resolution of any technical issue to ensure SLAs are met. We strongly rely on collaboration with Paysafe’s 2nd and 3rd level technical teams.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I am very grateful that I had a chance to be part of Paysafe Front Runner programme in 2022/2023. It was a great opportunity to meet and get to know the many amazing people working for Paysafe across all locations. Together we gained valuable training and knowledge experience during the course.
Can you tell us a little bit about your life outside of Paysafe?
Outside of Paysafe I spend all my time with my family. We love to travel, and one of our biggest highlights so far was a journey to Iceland two years ago. We did a two-week road trip around Iceland together with my wife and at the time my two-year old son. We saw geysers, glaciers, volcanoes, lava, whales, flocks of sheep on every corner and everything else the beautiful island offers. And last but not least it was one of the most child-friendly places we have ever been.
