My Paysafe: A week in the life of Vanessa Martin

Vanessa works in our risk management team, and is based in Houston.

For you, is there a typical day or week at Paysafe?

Paysafe has a very diverse payment processing portfolio, which requires ongoing risk monitoring. My tasks include evaluating the tools that the businesses uses to monitor fraud, credit, and compliance risks, to ensure they are running efficiently. In a typical week, I spend the majority of my days designing improvements to our systems and alerts. The best part of working in Risk is that it is never mundane. Currently, I am working with a development team on a number of automations to the Risk system that will help decrease the time spent on more routine tasks.

What has surprised you about working at Paysafe?

It has been surprising to find out how accommodating people can be. In my position, I have had the opportunity to connect with all areas of the business, and with colleagues across the world, and everyone has been so mindful of each other’s time. It’s truly a unique thing when you can quickly collaborate with someone who doesn’t share your time zone.

What initially motivated you to join Paysafe?

My Paysafe career began five and a half years ago at Merchants Choice Payment Solutions as a Risk Analyst. When MCPS was acquired by Paysafe, it was an easy choice to stay. As a leading provider in payment solutions, Paysafe has many opportunities for career growth. I had an amazing chance to challenge myself and grow in a field I enjoy.

What do you think about career growth and professional development opportunities at Paysafe?  Does Paysafe do a good job of providing internal career path opportunities and learning and development opportunities?

As someone who takes advantage of every tool available to them, Paysafe really does provide the necessary opportunities to help you move forward.  There are many training opportunities available that are not limited to your position, and employee/management tools to guide you towards reaching your goals. Paysafe has also recently added a mentorship program that I believe will prove to be really be helpful to anyone who feels driven towards a particular interest. Internal promotions are also highly encouraged.

How did you find having to work from home as opposed to working from the office? Would you explore this opportunity in the future if given the opportunity?

At first it was challenging knowing when to walk away from the computer, as it is very convenient to continue working, but since Paysafe has promoted work/life balance so much this year, I have taken it to heart and am finding more time to spend with family. If given the opportunity, I would prefer to work from home most of the time as I live far from the office. This has given me a great deal of travel time back. Having said that, seeing my peers once in a while to connect would be ideal.

Describe Paysafe in three words.

Progressive, encouraging, and innovative.

You should come to work at Paysafe, because…

…the culture of the company is geared towards helping you succeed. Collaboration and innovation are encouraged.
