Work Locally, Act Globally: A Conversation with Jon Nicolosi
At a time when remote collaboration and global thinking are more important than ever, we’re excited to spotlight someone who lives and breathes this mindset every day. Meet Jon Nicolosi, Global Creative Director at Paysafe, whose recent travels across continents bring a fresh perspective on what it truly means to work locally and act globally.
Jon shared his thoughts with us while in the middle of a four-week journey that had already taken him to our London and Dublin offices - and was about to continue on to Lima. By the time he returned to his home base in Jacksonville, Florida, it would have been nearly a month of living and working on the move.
Here’s what Jon had to say about working globally, staying grounded locally, and what he's learned along the way:
“Traveling this much, especially being away from my wife and kids, is never easy. But I’ve been lucky - my role has taken me to many of our Paysafe offices around the world. And with each visit, I’ve experienced new cultures, flavors, and stories that shape how we work as a global team.”
Working across different markets has its challenges - language, culture, regulations - but is also incredibly rewarding. According to Jon, the key is communication, and the strength of a diverse, distributed team.
“Language nuances can easily change a message’s intent. That’s why our global team is so important - it helps us speak more effectively and respectfully to our customers everywhere.”
Jon’s advice for anyone navigating a global workplace?
- Learn local basics. A few words in the native language - like “please” and “thank you”- go a long way.
- Skip the hotel routine. Explore, be a tourist, talk to locals.
- Try the local food. (No, McDonald’s doesn’t count - though Jon admits it’s better in Europe!)
- And don’t forget your passport. Seriously.
But beyond the logistics, Jon reminds us that global work is ultimately about people.
“Above all, the most meaningful part of my journey isn’t a place or a dish - it’s the people. Paysafe is more than just a company. It’s a global community filled with incredibly talented, sincere, and dedicated individuals. I’ve had amazing conversations with colleagues from India, China, Greece, Italy, Bosnia, Australia, Argentina, Bulgaria - even Ohio - and many more. People I now proudly call friends.
In a world that often highlights what divides us, I like to focus on what brings us together: family, friendship, community, and shared experiences. Yes, we live in different places and have different customs, tastes, and goals - but at our core, we’re united by more than we realize.
Paysafe has been a journey - one that I’m proud to be on. Thank you, Andrea Faseler (our Recruitment Director for North America), for reaching out to me back in May 2023. It’s been an incredible adventure so far, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
Thank you, Jon, for sharing your insights and for living the spirit of Work Locally, Act Globally every day.
