Tell us about yourself:
My name is Svetlana Foteva, and I am working as a Senior Compliance Officer at Paysafe. In my role, I am involved in consumer compliance advisory to protect Paysafe and ensure conformity with regulations. I am also leading the Women@Paysafe Network for Bulgaria, which is one of the company’s biggest DE&I networks.
What is Women@Paysafe all about, and how does it empower women within the company?
The Women@Paysafe network is a vibrant community designed to bring women and allies together within the company, fostering a culture of support, inspiration, and connection. This is a safe space where voices can be heard and valued, encouraging open dialogues and sharing experiences.
Both globally and locally in Bulgaria, Women@Paysafe empowers women through various initiatives such as mentorship programmes, leadership workshops, and networking events. These efforts not only support women in their professional growth but also inspire them to take on new challenges and opportunities both within and outside of the company.
By offering a platform for women to connect, learn, and grow, Women@Paysafe plays a key role in helping them to thrive in their careers and contribute meaningfully to the fintech industry.

As the local Lead of Women@Paysafe, what initiatives are you driving in Bulgaria to support and uplift women both inside and outside the company?
We usually start the year with planning our calendar of events around four main pillars: knowledge sharing, career growth and development, networking events and wellbeing and charity and collaboration with other communities. And we do this as a team as the network has fantastic Women@Paysafe ambassadors in Bulgaria and has been greatly supported by the global Women@Paysafe leads.

Looking back, what are some of the most inspiring and impactful events you’ve organized?
Our speed mentoring event featured 5 mentors and nearly 50 female mentees for 2.5 hours of coaching sessions in-person at the office.
I’m also really proud of the career growth and development for women series of workshops we held to empowering women in our workplace and beyond. These sessions were designed to equip participants with valuable insights, strategies, and skills to advance their careers and break through barriers.
And we also love to get together for our networking events with internal or external guests, exchange insights and ideas and have fun!

What advice would you give to women looking to grow and thrive in the fintech industry?
Invest in yourself – both personally as a woman and as a professional! The fintech industry is so dynamic and technology is advancing incredibly fast and what has been the norm a year ago may no longer be best practice. This requires continued learning and mastering the skill of adopting constant change and being agile. And last but not least – stay human, continue to embrace the qualities you identify with – be it compassion, creativity, intuition, or otherwise – and navigate life with resilience!
