My Paysafe: A week in the life of Christian Hoersig

Christian is a Senior Sales Manager, working in our Vienna office.

For you, is there a typical day or week at Paysafe?

In my role as Senior Sales Manager, Games, I am trying to live up to the name of my title. My daily responsibilities include the onboarding of new merchants in the games industry, monitoring transaction volumes, identifying and acquiring strategic target merchants in the industry, and coordinating the onboarding of in-and outbound leads. Lately I have developed a substantial focus on “cross-selling”, which essentially translates to not only selling paysafecard, the eCash solution which was developed in Austria for the gaming industry, but thinking globally, and presenting the whole Paysafe portfolio to merchants.

What helps you to maintain a healthy work-life balance?

I try to keep myself occupied after work as much as I can. I play the bass guitar player on a semi-professional level, I am a fanatical fisherman, and I am – which comes as no surprise – a gamer at heart. In addition, my girlfriend and I adopted a Dachshund puppy last year. His name is Mavi, he keeps us busy and is our loyal companion on all our trips.

What has surprised you about working at Paysafe?

This is my first B2B role, and I am always surprised how down-to-earth my counterparts in the industry are. Today I still sometimes get nervous before pitching to large tech giants, only to then realise that they often are geeks like myself.

Initially, I was pleasantly surprised that the “open door” policy at Paysafe is taken seriously as I have never experienced this before. Five years into the job, I want to give kudos to this, as the openness continued when we began to work from home due to the pandemic.

What initially motivated you to join Paysafe?

Naturally, being able to work with an international company with a large base in Austria is great motivation on its own. Adding this to a team of incredible leaders and colleagues, I did not have to think twice.

Are you involved in some of Paysafe’s Community and Environment or Diversity and Inclusion initiatives?

I am a proud member of paysafecard’s EUREKA! Committee – an initiative set up to realise grass roots ideas generated from colleagues across the organisation - and the Vienna-based CSR team. It is really important for me to be a creative contributor to these initiatives, as it is not only an interesting addition to my day-to-day work but allows me to contribute to society and colleagues on a larger scale.

What do you think about diversity and inclusion at Paysafe?

My honest opinion is that Paysafe is doing remarkable work in that sector. I am convinced that everybody lives and works by our company values, and nobody feels excluded, regardless of culture, gender, sexual orientation, or other biases.

Does Paysafe do a good job of communicating with its employees?

Yes, absolutely. Even though we are currently separated, I feel kept up-to-date and further, I feel, that our voices are heard. To help the company maintain this high standard, it is crucial that we all regularly participate in the regular wellbeing and manager effectiveness surveys which take place at Paysafe.

How did you find having to work from home as opposed to working from the office? Would you explore this opportunity in the future if given the opportunity?

I greatly welcome the 2/2/1 work approach which Paysafe will be adopting (working from home a minimum of two days a week and working in the office a minimum of two days a week). However, it is fair to say that I miss being around my team and colleagues.

Describe Paysafe in three words.

Flexible, Innovative, Groundbreaking

You should come to work at Paysafe, because…

…you too deserve to work with the greatest team on the best innovations in the payments sector. If you believe that not only doing business, but doing business the right way is important, Paysafe is the place to be.

Christian Hoersig has a background in electronics and computer studies but discovered his passion for sales early on in his career. After some years in offline retail, he joined Paysafe as an Account Manager in the eCash Games Team. 5 years later, Christian has progressed into a Senior Sales Manager role and plays a central role in maintaining and growing Paysafe’s footprint in the Games industry.
