What International Women’s Day means to me

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘each for equal’. What does this mean to you?

International Women’s Day, annually held on the 8th March, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women; the day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

This year Paysafe is once again proud to be supporting International Women’s Day and recognising the importance of gender equality. This year, through the International Women’s Day global slogan of #eachforequal, we support the philosophy that an equal world is an enabled world and that we should actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations, and celebrate women's achievements.

We spoke to women across Paysafe to discover what this year’s theme means to them.

Louise Clements, Chief Marketing Officer:

‘For me, International Women’s Day is a moment to be more mindful. More mindful as a woman, more mindful as a leader. This year’s theme is especially powerful because #eachforequal is something that everyone can participate in.’

Blagorodna Paskova, Manager, Issuing and Collections, Sofia:

‘It gives me confidence that my daughter is growing in a world which will consider everyone for their character and capabilities without falling for the stereotypes we used to fall victim to when we were kids’. 

Aissatou Bah, Junior Communications Copywriter, Montreal:

‘I’m excited about this year’s theme, as it was chosen due to the lack of equality in the workplace observed around the world. Equality means that individuals have access to all opportunities and an equal voice in the workplace. It’s also about working in an environment without barriers in regard to race, ethnicity, gender, religious beliefs, physical abilities and more. Essentially, it’s recognizing the beauty in individuality and leveraging it to improve both company culture and business results.’

Paulette Rowe, President of Integrated Solutions:

‘Be courageous, be bold and don’t wait for permission. If you have an idea or you’re passionate about something, go after it. Your determination will make you stand out from everyone else.’ 

Bettina Borbola, Strategic Partnership Manager, Vienna:

‘I think they would like to remind us with the theme ‘each for equal’, that we are all responsible and everybody needs to be involved to create a world where everybody is equal’.

Deepakshi Vasudeva, Product Manager, Hyderabad:

‘To me, ‘each for equal’ means a world that does not bias on gender, caste, culture, sexual preferences or colour. A world that has equal opportunities for everyone, because an equal world is an enabled world.

I hope one day we have gender equal board rooms, gender equal governments, and gender equal representation in the workforce overall. That journey begins with more female representation in schools and colleges, and more women being supported by their partner to manage both family and work.’
